It was the smallest score possible in the opener of a four game series between the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium Monday night. The Cardinals nipped the Brewers 1-0 as Wilson Contreras lined a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning for the only score of the night. The two out homer was the only mistake Freddy Peralta made as he worked six innings, giving up four hits while striking out six without a walk. A veteran who reached a significant milestone was just a little bit better as Adam Wainwright shut down the Brewers on four hits through seven innings to pick up the 200th win of his outstanding career Wainwright endured a rough season with the last place Cards, needing five to reach the milestone and after a couple of stints on the injured list, finally joined the 200 win club with 117 others who have done in major league history. The loss drops the Crew to 84-66 but they still maintain a healthy six game lead over the idle Chicago Cubs in the NL Central race with 12 games to go. Trevor Megill will get the start in game two of the series Tuesday night against Drew Rom. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:10 PM with a 6:45 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
