MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – After a one-day jump in new coronavirus cases, Friday’s count in Wisconsin was on par with the seven-day average.
The state Department of Health Services is reporting 278 new confirmed cases on Friday. That is down from 422 on Thursday and near the seven-day average of 273. There are also 10,838 negative tests being reported on Friday. The 2.5% positive rate is in line with the percentages on Tuesday and Wednesday.
So far, there have been 24,154 confirmed cases and 444,751 negative tests.
DHS also reports 11 new deaths linked to COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus. The total in Wisconsin is now 730.
Wisconsin hospitals say they are caring for 240 patients with positive COVID-19 tests, the same number as Thursday. The number of patients in intensive care units has risen by eight to 91.
There are 1,262 ventilators in the state, with 310 in use.
Of the 11,446 hospital beds in Wisconsin, 2,653 are available.
