NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Neenah School Board approved the sale of the former Shattuck Middle School to a developer Tuesday night.
Neenah resident Umar Sheikh, who has renovated Neenah buildings such as the Marketplace in Downtown Neenah and the Equitable Reserve Building, submitted the winning offer of $501,000, the district confirmed.
Investment Creations plans to put 34-to-48 apartments in the building, along with 50-to-60 single family dwellings on the property. The school district’s health and wellness center will remain at the building, and the auditorium and the gymnasium will be kept for city recreational programs.
The property sale is part of a wider district plan. When the new Neenah High School opens in fall of 2023, the current high school will transform into a middle school for grades 5-8. Shattuck Middle School will close and Horace Mann Middle School will become an elementary school.
