GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities are asking residents to avoid a Green Bay west side neighborhood as they try to contain a bear.
Officers were dispatched to an area of Lore Lane around 5:40 a.m. Monday for a report of a bear in a tree.
Police, as well as animal control and the DNR are on scene.
Police are asking everyone except for residents who live in the immediate area, avoid Western Avenue, S. Oneida Street, Lore Lane and Maryhill Drive where barricades are in place.
Officials do not want to cause additional stress on the animal with a large gathering.
Police will issue an update when streets reopen.
