ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Reading got a little cozier for students in a Green Bay area classroom.
Rodney Millett, a third grade teacher at Valley View Elementary School in Ashwaubenon, was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Meemic Foundation to create a reading nook for his classroom.
On Thursday, students were surprised to see the flexible furniture delivered.
Millett says he’s what other teachers describe as “old school,” so he decided to do something fresh and new by applying for the grant.
“It gives them some flexibility, they’re not just going to sit in their desks all day or sitting on the hard floor; they’re able to feel a little more comfortable when they’re reading. It’s some flexible furniture, so we can move it around and use it in different formats,” Millett said.
Lakeshore Learning Materials helped Millett choose the furniture best suited for his students.
