GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — 2023 is off to a soaring start for Appleton’s airport.
The most recent statistics show the amount of air traffic going through TSA at the Appleton International Airport (ATW) increased 31% from January 2022 to January 2023.
That’s the second largest increase of major airports ranked in Wisconsin:
- MSN 34% increase
- ATW 31% increase
- GRB 20% increase
- MKE 13% increase
Based on travel statistics through 2022, more than 846,000 passengers arrived and departed from Appleton, making it the third-busiest airport in the state behind Milwaukee and Madison respectively.
“When travelers choose the Appleton airport, they realize its faster, easier, and more convenient than alternative options,” said Abe Weber, Appleton airport director.
Weber adds that the increases for 2023 are also due to growing partnerships with the airlines serving Appleton. Airlines increased the number of seats departing and returning to Appleton throughout 2022.
