MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Golf is usually an afterthought in February and while our warmer temperatures may have some itching to hit the links, some were planning to get out on Saturday no matter the conditions.
‘Snow Golf 2023’ likely ended up being a lot less snow than organizers were originally planning for.
The event at Meadow Links was a fundraiser for the Civil War gravesite restoration project at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
Participants say the conditions were tough as they were trying to put the ball into pie tin holes.
“You kind of have to modify the way you swing because it’s really hard to get the right grip on the club, but it’s a best ball game, so every once in a while when I don’t have such good of a stroke, the other guys will carry me for 8 out of 9 holes or so,” said Adam Hetz.
Golfers went nine holes using only three clubs a piece.
