OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A story by one of the world’s greatest authors is coming to Northeast Wisconsin.
Scenes for a short-film adaptation of Stephen King’s short story “The Last Rung on the Ladder” will be filmed at the historic Venue 404 in Oshkosh.
“The history of the building along with the stunning facility makes it perfect for the scene,” said film director Jeff Blankenship. “The scene depicts an eloquent banquet and awards ceremony, and the ballroom at the Venue 404 provides that stunning background.”
The wedding and event venue, which has been downtown since the 1920s, is featured on the National Register of Historic Places.
Venue 404’s lower-level bank vault was featured in the 2009 movie, “Public Enemies.”
“The Last Rung on the Ladder,” which is co-written by Wisconsinites Max Blaska and Karla Bryant, is expected to begin filming in Oshkosh later this month.
