GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Former president Donald Trump wants his job back and made it official with his announcement Tuesday night. But some Republicans don’t care for the polarizing baggage Trump brings.
Jim Fitzgerald, chair of the Brown County GOP, is happy to see Trump back.
“After all, his policies and America First agenda was attractive to a great many people across the country. So we weren’t surprised”
He thinks it will make the campaign to nominate a Republican presidential candidate in 2024 more robust and the best person will emerge.
“We have a strong field, and this is going to make it even stronger. And, so it’s going to be an exciting campaign.”
As far as the midterm elections, that some say Republicans didn’t do as well as hoped, Fitzgerald says Trump’s endorsement is sought after, but it can only do so much. The rest is up to the candidate.
