WIXX recently starting playing the new song “Truth Hurts” from Atlantic
Records recording artist Lizzo, some fairly significant adjustments have been made to the song.
In the chorus of the song, Lizzo sings a line “…new man on the
Minnesota Vikings.” Much like songs get edited for profanity, WIXX
edited
out all the references in the song to ‘Minnesota Vikings’
without ruining the
beat or rhythm of the song.
As you probably know, WIXX is Green Bay’s FM home of the Packers Radio Network game-day
broadcasts, weekly head coach interviews during the season and weeknight on-air personality
Jayson Slade
is the on-field game-day entertainment
host at Lambeau Field.
WIXX Music Director (and midday host) Otis Day explains: “We knew playing a song
with multiple references to the Minnesota Vikings was not going to work on
WIXX. (Cutting out ‘Minnesota Vikings’) really makes sense for our
audience – I’m pretty sure no radio station in Minneapolis would play a song
that references the Green Bay Packers multiple times.”
“Truth Hurts”, which is the biggest hit to date (according to
Mediabase 24/7 radio monitoring) for the Minneapolis-based artist is also
featured in the Netflix movie “Someone Great.”
Since doing this, WIXX has gotten some fairly significant press from both Wisconsin and Minnesota:
