A school janitor is being praised for going “above-and-beyond” her job duties by making a girl with autism feel extra-special during the middle of a tough day for the youngster.
Kenlee Bellew-Shaw is 4th grader, who instead of eating lunch with her classmates, instead went to a separate room for some needed “down-time” – was curled up on the floor covered n her favorite blanket. Ms. Esther – the beloved custodian at Passmore Elementary School in Texas, who usually greets Kenlee each day with a hug and a smile – this time did something more.
She laid down next to the youngster and gently rubbed and patted her back, which led to a big smile on Kenlee’s face.
Kenlee’s mother Hollie happened to catch the moment as she walked in and immediately snapped a picture of the exchange – which she later posted to social media, writing “Our school cutsodian is literally the best, sweetest individual in the world…” and called her “an angel on campus.”
The school district was touched by the kind gesture and posted the photo and story on their Facebook page – which has since gone viral:
