MANAWA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Manawa School District is adding increased police presence in and around its buildings after a “credible threat of school violence.”
The Manawa middle and high school principal, Abe El Manssouri, contacted law enforcement Thursday morning about the threat.
The Manawa Police Department and Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office investigated Manawa Middle School and Little Wolf High School Thursday morning, keeping students and staff in their first hour classes until about 9:30 a.m.
In a letter sent to families Thursday, the district said “parents and students should feel reassured that no one was nor is in imminent danger.”
In addition to increasing police presence due to the threat, the district is also encouraging students to contact the school counselor for extra support.
