A night after getting shutout by the Brewers, the Los Angeles Dodgers roughed up Milwaukee’s ace in a 10-1 victory to even the series at Dodgers Stadium Tuesday night. Corbin Burnes lasted just three and two thirds innings, giving up seven runs on six hits, the most runs he’s allowed in the last four years. Freddie Freeman touched him for an RBI in the opening inning and then Trayce Thompson unloaded a three run homer in the second. Three more runs came across in the 4th as Burnes gave way to Brent Suter to make it a 7-0 game. Catcher Victor Caratini finished up on the mound and he gave up three runs on two hits in the 8th. Dodger starter Tony Gonsolin, a college teammate of Burnes at St. Mary’s, picked up his 16th win against just one loss and lowered his league leading ERA to 2.10 by working five innings, allowing one run on three hits, that was an RBI single from Jonathan Davis in the 5th. The Brewers managed all of four hits on the night. L.A. improves to a major league best 85-37 while the Brewers drop to 65-57. With St. Louis splitting a doubleheader against the Cubs, the Cardinals now have a five and a half game lead on the Crew in the NL Central race. The Brewers remain a game and a half behind San Diego for the final Wild Card spot in the National League. Adrian Houser, just off the injured list, will return to the mound for the first time since June 30, facing Andrew Heaney in the series finale. Pre-game coverage begins at 7:25 PM with an 8:00 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
