BERLIN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office found a dead man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after closing down Highway A in Berlin Wednesday.
The office received a call at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from a woman who said her ex-boyfriend was in her home but was not supposed to be there.
The man left and was walking across the roadway before officers arrived.
After being on the scene for five minutes, a deputy heard a gunshot approximately 0.25 miles away from the house.
After several hours, the drone unit was able to locate the man along the banks of the river northeast of the Mascoutin Golf Course.
The man is thought to be the same person as the one involved in the trespassing complaint.
Deputies say the man was already dead when they arrived.
A citizen helped the deputies recover the man, using his boat to navigate the waters.
The man’s name is being withheld as the family is informed.
