GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Absentee voting began Tuesday for the Aug. 9 primary election.
The two highest profile elections include the race for Republican gubernatorial nominee and the race for Democratic U.S. Senate nominee. There are many other races on the ballot, though.
This election is a partisan primary, which means that voters can only vote for one party across the ballot.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Aug. 4. To request a ballot, a person must already be registered to vote. In-person registration closes on Election Day.
Voters may request and submit an early in-person absentee ballot through Aug. 7.
Absentee ballots that were requested earlier must be received by the appropriate municipal clerk by 8 p.m. on Aug. 9.

The state’s Supreme Court recently ruled that absentee ballot drop boxes are illegal. In line with new regulations from the Wisconsin Elections Commission, voters must return or mail their own ballots.
