OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department says its still searching for a driver and group of passengers after a hit-and-run boat crash on the Fox River.
The crash happened on the Fox River just before 10 p.m. Saturday between the Oregon St. bridge and Wisconsin St. bridge in Oshkosh.
A commercial stern-wheel pleasure cruise paddleboat with 43 passengers and crew received severe damage to the port side after it was hit by what is believed to be a private 45-foot powerboat.
Everyone on board the paddleboat got to shore safely.
One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Six people were treated at the scene.
The powerboat fled the scene after the collision. Witnesses say there were seven people on board.
As of 3:00 a.m. Sunday the boat and operator have not been found.
The crash remains under investigation.
