MADISON, WI (WLUK) — The state Supreme Court has upheld the conviction in a Green Bay homicide case, overturning a lower court’s order for a new trial.
Richard Arrington is serving a life prison sentence after being convicted of shooting Ricardo Gomez outside a Day Street home on April 2, 2016.
Police provided a device to a jail inmate to record conversations with Arrington, which were used at trial. Last year, the Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Arrington, ordering a new trial, saying the inmate was acting as an agent for the state and his attorney should have objected at trial. But prosecutors appealed, sending the case to the Supreme Court.
In its decision filed Friday, the Supreme Court rejected the defense arguments.
