The Wisconsin GLO, the women’s professional basketball team based out of Oshkosh has named a new Head Coach. Kate Peterson Abiad will take over the team which has won back to back GWBA league championships. A former assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin, Abiad also led Cleveland State’s women’s program for 15 years, winning a Horizon League tournament championship and taking the Vikings to the NCAA tournament. She’s currently an associate director with the W.I.A.A. The team’s roster is made up primarily from women who played collegiately around the state at UW-Milwaukee, Green Bay and Wisconsin. The GLO open their season May 21 against the St. Louis Surge in Oshkosh.
