GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – People can now book flights directly from Green Bay to Las Vegas.
The announcement of non-stop flights was made at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport Tuesday morning. Airport Director Marty Piette says it’s been a top market for years – but they haven’t had a direct connection for over a decade.
“Las Vegas has been one of our top markets for years. We haven’t had the nonstop for about 15 years now, so this is a big deal. This is one we’ve been marketing and targeting quite a bit,” Piette told WTAQ News. “It just provides one more option for our region to get to the locations that they’re trying to get to without having to connect or go to another airport…A lot of people will travel to a larger airport like Chicago to catch that nonstop flight. So this just gives them more options to stay closer to home and spend dollars locally.”
Sun Country will begin service from Austin Straubel Airport to Las Vegas, beginning September 9th. You can actually start booking those flights right now.
“They had it loaded last night already, there’s $70 fares. But it’s really great flight times, it leaves I think about 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon, gets in to Las Vegas by 7:30 p.m., so it’s great timing. You’re there in time for dinner. We’re really excited to have this here,” Piette said.
It’s part of Sun Country’s expansion, as it also announced five new routes and welcomed two new airports to its growing network. In addition, the airline extended its booking calendar so travelers can plan and book flights now through early mid-December 2022.
