The Green Bay Phoenix returned home Wednesday night but fell to the Wright State Raiders 79-62, their sixth consecutive defeat. The visitors scored the game’s opening 8 points but GB found it’s footing and grabbed their first lead at 29-28. Wright State hit a shot at the first half buzzer to take a 38-34 lead at intermission. Playing without a couple of players with injury and illness, Green Bay’s short rotation tired in the second half, going almost six and a half minutes without a basket as Wright State went on a 25-5 run to lead by as many as 22. The Phoenix also committed 10 of their 15 turnovers in the second half. Freshman Kamari McGee still played his finest game of the season with a career high 24 points. Nate Jenkins added a dozen for Green Bay which drops to 4-19 on the year, 3-11 in Horizon League play. Wright State (15-10, 12-4) was led by Tanner Holden with 21 points and redshirt Junior Grant Basile from Pewaukee High School added 19 to go over 1000 points in his career. Green Bay’s homestand wraps up Friday night when they host Northern Kentucky at the Kress Center at 7:00 PM.
