After a tough loss to Illinois and a narrow win against Penn State, the 14th ranked Wisconsin Badgers were staring at another test against #17 Michigan State at the Breslin Center Tuesday night. But this year’s Wisconsin team has become true road warriors as they led wire to wire in beating the Spartans 70-62. They avenged a loss to Michigan State at the Kohl Center in January. Johnny Davis regained his All-American form after scoring just four points in last weekend’s 51-49 win against Penn State by dumping in 25 to lead the Badgers. Tyler Wahl and freshman point guard Chucky Hepburn each added 11. The Badgers were much better on the glass and controlled the tempo throughout, never letting Michigan State get it’s transition game going. Every time the Spartans closed the gap, Wisconsin had the answer. This marks the 9th true road win for the Badgers (19-4, 10-3) and for the first time since 1963 have beaten both Michigan State and Purdue on the road. With #3 Purdue handling #13 Illinois 84-68 at Mackey Arena, there’s now a three way tie for the Big 10 regular season title between the Boilermakers, Illini and the Badgers.
