MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The leader of a Shawano County tribe has been selected to give this year’s State of the Tribes address.
Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin VosĀ has set the speech for 1 p.m. Feb. 22 in the state Capitol. The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council has selected Stockbridge-Munsee president Shannon Holsey to give this year’s address.
The State of the Tribes address has been an annual event since 2005. It gives the 11 federally recognized Native American tribes in Wisconsin the chance to discuss issues with the state Legislature.
