GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The 2022 tourism season is expected to be better than last year’s in Green Bay.
Discover Green Bay CEO Brad Toll says things are already looking up.
“For 2022, our books look pretty good,” Toll told WTAQ. “As far as events and things coming in. Conventions, meetings.”
That comes after several unexpected cancellations at the end of last year.
“We’re hoping to see a lot less of that in 2022,” said Toll. “We’ve actually got a big convention moving in this weekend.”
That convention, a religious gathering, is expected to draw around 3,000 people to the area.
Business travel is still down. Toll expects that to change slowly but surely.
“They’re not back at the level they were. There is some business travel, but it’s limited,” Toll said. “[But] when you’re sitting in your office and knowing that your competition is meeting with your clients, it won’t take long to get that going again.”
Tourism, predictably, took a nosedive at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
