OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – An Outagamie County Sheriff’s deputy continues his battle with COVID-19 at an out-of-state hospital.
Deputy Channing Pompa has been hospitalized for COVID-19 since Sept. 26. He spent some time in the intensive care unit as well as on a ventilator at an area hospital before he was transferred out-of-state with complications of severe COVID pneumonia.
According to the family’s GoFundMe page, Pompa is still on advanced life support and has had several complications during this past month including infections and another type of pneumonia.
He remains sedated but every day the team is working on slowly coming down in hopes of having him awake in the next couple of weeks. He has a very long road ahead of him yet with an undetermined outcome still. But we pray every single day for recovery soon and that he will come home to us. Thank you all for your support. It truly means so much to us.
Neither the sheriff’s office nor the fundraiser say whether Pompa was vaccinated against COVID-19.
Pompa patrols Combined Locks and the town of Buchanan.
