GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – It appears Green Bay’s city attorney is taking the same position with a different city.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa announced its city council is expected to vote to appoint Vanessa Chavez as its city attorney at a special meeting on Oct. 20.
Chavez has played an influential role in legal challenges to how Green Bay conducted its elections in 2020, including heading an internal report on the November 2020 election.
“As our family talked to people in the community as we considered the move, we heard time and again about the resiliency and work ethic of the people of Cedar Rapids, and the way the community comes together,” said Chavez in a news release from Cedar Rapids. “These are values our family shares, which made it easy for us to choose the City of Cedar Rapids as the place where we want to work and live. I am excited to join the Cedar Rapids team and continue the important work already being done to improve the quality of life for the community where we will raise our children.”
Chavez has been with Green Bay since 2016.
