GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A man sought for the sexual assault of a woman in downtown Green Bay has been identified and arrested.
Green Bay Police announced the arrest Tuesday afternoon on Facebook. The man’s name was not immediately released.
Now, we’re learning more about what happened during that incident.
It happened in the early morning hours of October 1st after a woman was approached by a man who was looking for help. After he wouldn’t go away, she tried to leave and he grabbed on to her.
“What we’re looking at here is a sexual assault of the touching nature,” said Police Captain Ben Allen. “So, second degree sexual assault.”
The man quickly ran off over the Walnut Street Bridge immediately following the assault.
“It happened rather quickly,” said Allen. “Probably less than a minute for the struggle between him and her, her trying to get away, him touching her, and then him running from the scene.”
At the time of the attack, he was oddly dressed, wearing a bright green hood that wrapped around his head.

Police originally released photos of the suspect last week with very few details. Additional details came out Monday. Allen says that was at the request of the victim.
“We want to make sure [the victim] is in the drivers seat,” he said.
