BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Brown County Public Health is offering a pair of drive-thru flu shot clinics this month, as they encourage everyone to get the annual vaccine this fall.
Public health officials are reminding everyone that the flu is still around, and can still cause health complications.
“Flu itself is serious, and it can cause complications which can cause death, unfortunately,” said Public Health Officer Anna Destree. “We just don’t want hospitals to get overwhelmed with flu, especially in a time where COVID is going on as well.”
As the typical flu season rolls in, Destree reminds everyone to take the right precautions to stay healthy ahead of the holidays.
“It’s really important that we are remembering those precautions that we’ve talked about so much; Getting the flu vaccine, staying home when sick covering sneezes and coughs, doing things that can prevent the spread of flu,” Destree told WTAQ News. “You can get both the COVID-19 vaccine as well as the flu vaccine at the same time. So if you are eligible to get both, we do recommend that people do so.”
The free clinics will be held at Green Bay West High School from 10-1 on October 16th and October 23rd. You can learn more at StayHealthyBC.com
