BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – For many, the Labor Day Holiday Weekend traditionally marks the end of summer.
On Monday people were heading home and settling into their fall routines.
Some say it’s been a busy season for recreation.
At Bay Shore County Park Campground in Brown County, campers say it’s been a busy Labor Day Holiday.
“We got in here early Thursday morning, and by Thursday afternoon, every single one was full,” said Scott Fischer, Marshall.
Campground host Pat Batey tells FOX 11 it’s been a busy season too at the 100-site facility.
“Weekends full all summer. Most of the first-come, first served were also taken especially in August as we got into Packers season, and that’s back on, so people will be here for family night, for the preseason games.”
Not everyone was camping, at the boat landing nearby, Kevin Piesler and his family were getting ready to do a little fishing.
“It’s just a day to spend time with family, reflect, and just relax. You know get back into the swing of school, back to work for a while.”
His daughter Ava Piesler says she likes it all.
“I like summer because it’s very warm, and the sun is shining. I always say this, the sun is shining, birds are singing, and nothing’s going to stop a sunny day.”
Scott Fischer agrees. He says he’s not done camping in 2021.
“I actually have two more weekends planned after this. So we try to get into that at least late October to try to catch the colors and stuff.”
Bay Shore Park Campground typically stays open until the end of October.
