GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Students will be taking to the sidewalks again soon as school begins anew this week.
Green Bay Police Commander Kevin Warych says drivers should watch out in school zones–and slow down.
“With school starting to go back into session, we want all drivers to be alert of what is going on around them,” said Warych. “Kids that were not normally on the sidewalks because they were off for the summer are going to be on the sidewalks.”
Speed limits drop significantly in school zones, and police will be on the lookout.
“Officers are going to be directed to focus their efforts around school zones,” Warych told WTAQ.
Most schools in the area begin this week.
