The Tokyo Summer Olympics are finally launching this morning . . . and I know, there aren’t many Americans who are champing at the bit to see: Badminton, kayaking, field hockey, or handball.
There are four new sports this year: Karate, sport climbing, surfing, and skateboarding . . . and baseball and softball are making a return.
A new poll asked people which other sports should be added to the Summer Olympics . . . and 2% of people want Quidditch . . . from “Harry Potter”. (???)
It was invented as a fictional sport, but there’s a real-life version where you use brooms and RUN instead of, you know, flying.
The #1 sport people think should be added is lacrosse with 12% of the vote. Bowling is a close second with 11%, followed by American football at 9%. Dodgeball, roller skating, and waterskiing were all tied with 8%.
Others that got votes included: Sumo wrestling, tug-of-war, and . . . bridge. (???) (Apparently, they had some octogenarians participating in the poll.)
Lacrosse and tug-of-war actually used to be events at the Summer Olympics . . . 100 years ago . . . as was cricket, croquet, and water motorsports.
