NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Last weekend Neenah resident Rodger Ridgeway, 22, was found dead in downtown Neenah.
Police say he was found around midnight Sunday in the 200 block of Martens Street. Officers had been called to the area to investigate a trespassing report and discovered Ridgeway when a citizen reported seeing someone who appeared to be passed out in some grass.
Chief Aaron Olson announced Wednesday that Mandel Roy, 26, of Minneapolis, was arrested on a requested charge of first-degree intentional homicide.
Police are also looking for a second suspect, 28-year-old Terran Colwell of Minnesota.
Neenah Police say members of the Hell’s Lovers Motorcycle Club witnessed the deadly stabbing of Rodger Ridgeway.
“The allegations are that people actually watched this occur, didn’t take action, didn’t do anything, didn’t call the authorities, didn’t try to stop it, and that’s pretty distressing to a lot of people,” Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert said.
Kaufert says there have been many incidents at the Eagle Nation location dating back years.
“I’m going to see what types of avenues we have, can explore to possibly shut down the business,” Kaufert said.
FOX 11 spoke with a Hell’s Lover member on the phone Friday. He says they thought the incident was a fight, and had no idea a stabbing occurred. He says the two suspects are not affiliated with Hell’s Lovers.
Steve Erato owns Eagle Nation Cycles. He says the business has been closed for months, and he’s relocating to a property up north. Erato says Eagle Nation isn’t the problem.
“I invited the police in yesterday and let them do whatever they wanted to do throughout the building. I have no problem with that. Because if anybody there is responsible for a problem, they do need to be arrested and taken away. I have no problem with any of that. But don’t try to blame a building for causing problems,” Erato said.
Neenah Police declined an interview Friday, and said they have no more information to provide.
The suspect Mandel Roy has not yet appeared in court.
