GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay police department formally welcomed five officers to the force.
Monday’s swear-in ceremony was held inside the Legends Room at Lambeau Field for new officers and their families who were previously unable to participate in a formal ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Police chief Andrew Smith introduced the officers:
Tessa Dimity
Wyatt Veseth
Baldemar Ramirez
Ronnie Nickel
Bryce Boldus
Chief Smith said he is very proud of the new officers and believes they will do well for the citizens of Green Bay.
“Policing is not something you do to a community, it’s something you do with a community. That’s why when we look to hire people, we don’t look at someone who is the best driver or the best at firearms or the best at tactics; we can teach them all that. What we look for is someone, a police officer, that has good character. Someone who has demonstrated in their life that they have the character to do the right thing to work hard for this community.”
Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich was also in attendance. The new officers have been on the street, and working to keep Green Bay safe, for several weeks.
