MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — The tentative date for teachers and essential workers to become eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine is no longer tentative.
On March 1st, teachers, child care workers, essential workers, and those on the Medicaid long-term care program will be among those eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Teachers, healthcare workers and those over 65 will still have priority over other eligible groups, including public facing essential workings, including food service employees, non-frontline healthcare personnel, and those in congregate living facilities.
Deputy DHS Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk does warn that this will be the largest group of eligible people yet, and that vaccinating them will take some time.
