In an effort to continue to “grow my personal brand” (lol) I’ve decided to do my own version of “Power Rankings.”
Being a sports lover, I’m always interested in Top 5, Top 10 or Top 25 rankings when it comes to teams or players. I’ve also noticed that over the years I’ve also gravitated towards published rankings of ANY kind…no matter how random they are.
I’ve decided to feature things I’m either passionate about or just know a lot about.
So, here it is…my first Power Rankings ever! (I’m kinda nervous! Okay, not really…but here we go…)
**This is not a paid-for endorsement of any kind. Kwik Trips are everywhere in Wisconsin and I go to a Kwik Trip every week, usually multiple times and have a strong allegiance to their brand.**
One of the reasons I enjoy Kwik Trip so much is because of their Kwikery (aka bakery) of fresh-baked goods. In trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle my achilles heel has always been my sweet tooth – especially when it comes to bakery items!
Corey’s Top 10 Items At Kwik Trip’s Kwikery
10-Brownie Cookies: You know the “corner” pieces of a pan of brownies that are usually a little chewier than the others? That’s what these cookies remind me of. Had they been available, Jesus may have requested these as a dessert item at the Last Supper.
9-Raspberry Filled Donut: These are covered in Sugar or covered in white frosting. I really like the contrast between the *slight* tartness of the raspberry fill vs. the sweet white frosting. And watching my young children eat them smear them on their cheeks is a true delight.
8-Apple Danish: These are some of the messiest items offered in the Kwikery, but also very delicious. I especially like the moist texture at the bottom of the danish as it almost meldes with the apple pie-like filling inside this tasty treat! These may be one of the main reasons why each Kwik Trip also has a car vacuum station.
7-Cream Dunker: These are covered with a glaze and are the BEST for dipping into warm coffee, latte or hot chocolate…which are all also offered at Kwik Trip – usually only a few steps away from the Kwikery! (Anybody else think that this should be Milwaukee Bucks player Pat Connaughton’s new nickname?!)
6-French Toast Fritter: This is a newer offering at some Kwik Trips. With a slight maple flavor it reminds me a bit like a funnel-cake from your local county fair, but not overly sweet as I first imagined it being a syrup-soaked fritter. (Although brining home and pouring syrup on it – now THAT’s an idea!)
5-Maple-Frosted Long John: The maple frosting is my favorite at Kwik Trip and this gives you the most “bites for your buck” based on the overall size/length of this item. (Note: no actual math was done to determine this.)
4-Carrot Cake: One of my all-time favorite treats is often offered in either small square piece (or two/four) pieces in a separate plastic container. The cream cheese frosting does not disappoint as a compliment to the moist cake. (Then again, carrot cake is so good you could probably cover it with caulk and I would eat it…)
3-Specialty Cake Donut: There is something to be said about a plain, non-frosted, non-filled cake donut with only a slight sweetness to go with a cup of coffee in the morning. The Kwikery offers a specialty flavor of these classic items – rotating every few months. From egg nog around the holidays to cherry for Valentines Day to OJ (orange) for Spring – they are always best, IMO with the white frosting on top. (Has anyone ever eaten the mushy remnants of donut in the bottom of the coffee cup with a spoon? Asking for a friend…)
2-Frosted Sugar Cookies: These are a bit of a “four-leaf clover” of Kwikery items as sometimes they are hard to find. They are usually never featured as a standalone item, usually only available as a 12-pack. If you decide to try these, beware, it is almost impossible to stop at 1 (or even 2) cookies at one sitting. I’ve eaten 4 at once and could have had more. And by 4 I mean 7.
1-Maple Frosted French Donuts: Also a rare find in the Kwikery, the French Donuts (sometimes referred to as ‘crullers’) seem to “melt-in-your-mouth” and my favorite maple frosting just makes them that much more of a tantalizing treat! Jean Girard’s second favorite behind crepes.
