(LEARFIELD) – The Seton Hall Pirates led for the bulk of the game and staved off a late Marquette rally to defeat the Golden Eagles 70-63 Thursday night in Milwaukee.
Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski said the team didn’t do enough to win.
D.J. Carton led Marquette which trailed by 11 points with 9 minutes left in the game with 16 points. Wojcichowski spoke about Carton’s effort.
The Golden Eagles had tied the game with 42 seconds left but the Pirates Shavar Reynolds snapped the tie with a three-pointer, Sandro Maukelashvili hit a pair of free throws and then Reynolds hit four free throws when Marquette was forced to foul to ice the game.
Theo John and Jamal Cain added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Marquette. Dawson Garcia had 12 rebounds.
Seton Hall was led by Sandro Mamukelashvili with 17 points.
