MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A record 92 people died of coronavirus-related factors in Wisconsin, according to numbers released Tuesday.
The state Department of Health Services reported 7,090 new cases, marking the sixth time in the past 10 days the new case number has been above 7,000. Positive tests were 31.6% of the 22,743 total completed.
Seven-day averages moved to 6,429 total cases, 35.4% test positivity and 49 deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 323,848 total confirmed cases, more than 2 million negative tests and 2,741 deaths. DHS considers 243,841 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
The number of patients at the alternate care facility near Milwaukee rose to 23, the highest number yet and an increase of four from Monday.
Overall hospitalization numbers are expected to be updated later Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday’s update came as DHS released more information about preliminary plans to distribute vaccines in Wisconsin. It also came as Gov. Tony Evers and legislative Republicans released or planned to release new relief measures.
