OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A new Oshkosh initiative is encouraging people to show kindness and care for others, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The “Love Oshkosh” campaign launched this month.
Wearing face masks, practicing social distancing and washing their hands – people in Oshkosh tell FOX 11 they aren’t just vowing to follow safety guidelines for themselves.
“For my wife, who is a nurse practitioner, and her patients and, of course, my two children,” said Oshkosh City Council member Michael Ford.
“For my family, and my co-workers and my community,” Amy Albright, executive director of the Oshkosh Convention & Visitors Bureau said.
“For everyone,” owner of Oshkosh’s Caramel Crisp & Cafe Chanda Anderson said.
The Love Oshkosh campaign features community members from all walks of life, working in various industries.
“We have to work together,” Anderson said. “We are no longer competitors, we’re co-workers, because we all work for Oshkosh, and we have to think of it that way.”
Those who take part in the campaign wear a Love Oshkosh mask, snap a selfie wearing it and describe what or who they wear their mask for on the campaign’s Facebook page.
