OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – While plea negotiations continue for the Oshkosh West High School student accused of stabbing a police officer, a judge has scheduled a hearing on evidence in the case.
Grant Fuhrman, 17, is charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the Dec. 3 incident. Prosecutors say Fuhrman was shot after stabbing Oshkosh West High School’s police resource officer Mike Wissink on Dec. 3. Students and staff evacuated, and classes were cancelled for two days.
No trial date has been set. During court Monday, a Dec. 23 hearing was set on a defense motion to suppress evidence in the case. Details of what evidence is in question were not discussed.
Also Monday, defense attorney Corey Mehlos said he continues to discuss with prosecutors a possible resolution to the case. Additionally, Mehlos said a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect could be added.
