APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Appleton Common Council voted Wednesday to reduce fines for possessing marijuana in the city.
The council voted to reduce the fine from about $200 to $50 for a first offense.
A second or subsequent offenses would then cost $100.
Alderperson Michael Smith was the only person who voted against the change.
He says it would make it easier for people to “get away” with having the drug, despite it still being illegal.
