(WNFL) – Ryan Braun greeted former teammate Jeremy Jeffress with a fly ball to right field that scored Christian Yelich with the winning run in the Brewers’ 1-0 win over the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park in Milwaukee on Friday.
Yelich led off the ninth with a walk off reliever Ryan Wick and went to third on a single by Jedd Gyorko.
That brought Jeffress in from the bullpen and his first pitch to Braun sailed to the warning track where it was caught by Justin Heyward with Yelich scoring without a throw.
Brandon Woodruff started and went seven innings for the Brewers, allowing just one hit while striking out 12.
He was followed by Devin Williams who allowed the Cubs’ other hit and Josh Hader who got the win.
Jon Lester started for the Cubs and three hits and two walks over six innings while striking out eight.
