(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) PLYMOUTH – St. Norbert College extended its unbeaten streak to eight games following a 3-0 win over Lakeland University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Taylor Field.
The Green Knights (6-3-7, 4-1-5 NACC), who are now 3-0-5 over the last month, scored a season-high three goals and clinched a NACC Tournament berth in the process.
St. Norbert outshot Lakeland 9-7 and had five shots on goal but maximized its opportunities. Everett Saeger (pictured) scored the first of his two goals when his marker just 10:11 into the match off an assist from Alex Sada put the Green Knights up early. The goal would hold up into halftime with St. Norbert maintaining its 1-0 lead.
Sada then came through with a goal – his second of the year – finishing off a Kacper Durski helper at 51:35. Saeger then acquired his brace wit a goal at 61:08, again off a feed from Sada. It was Saeger’s fourth goal of the season. The Green Knights then closed out the match with a man-advantage after a Lakeland player was issued a red card in the 69th minute.
Each team had six corner kicks. Jackson Kiszka made three saves in 80:33 of action, while Teodor Sand did not see a shot in relief for the Green Knights. Ali Faiad made two saves for Lakeland.
