MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man who allegedly provided a runaway teen a place to stay in exchange for sex plans to waive a preliminary hearing in the case, while other sexual assault and bail jumping charges are also pending against him.
In a case filed in 2022, Trenten Ploederl, 27, faces counts of sexual exploitation of a child, trafficking a child, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree sexual assault.
During a hearing Thursday, his attorney said a preliminary hearing will be waived at an Oct. 22 hearing.
A victim child described the conditions for her to stay at his home.
“CHILD stated her contacts with PLOEDERL in the beginning were normal and occasionally he would try to do physical acts with her to which she denied him. Ultimately PLOEDERL stated if she would not do sexual type acts with him, she could not stay at his residence. CHILD stated over the next week or two there would have been numerous sexual contacts between the two,” the complaint states.
Ploederl has other cases, pending.
Earlier Thursday, after testimony from Det. Eric Schultz, Ploederl was bound over for trial for one count of first-degree sexual assault of a child for incidents involving a six-year-old. A status conference is scheduled for Nov. 20.
Ploederl has at least 15 other active cases, including more than 80 bail jumping charges.
