GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department will decide whether video of Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs’ altercation with his then-girlfriend will be made public.
In a hearing Thursday, Brown County Judge Marc Hammer denied the victim’s request to seal the video permanently.
Jacobs was convicted earlier this month of misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property for a May incident at his Hobart home.
Hammer cited Wisconsin’s open records law in making his decision, saying it was more applicable than Marsy’s Law, which protects victims’ rights.
Hammer also struck down any previous requests for the video to Hobart-Lawrence police.
The NFL and media outlets have requested the video. The NFL wants to use it in its investigation of possible violations of personal conduct policy. Jacobs is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list and cannot practice or play.
