Age was truly just a number at the Fox Cities Marathon events in Wisconsin, where a 103-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy both crossed the finish line in incredible fashion.
Germaine Smith, a 103-year-old participant with myTEAM TRIUMPH, an organization dedicated to helping individuals of differing abilities experience athletic events, completed the half marathon in 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 40 seconds.
Meanwhile, 12-year-old Urban Wilhelms tackled the full 26.2-mile marathon, completing the course in 5 hours and 54 minutes. Driven by a friendly family rivalry to beat his father’s record of running a marathon at age 14, Urban trained all summer alongside his mother, Ashley, building up his endurance through soccer and weekly long runs.
