MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Menasha residents whose homes were damaged in the July tornado will have a chance to learn how FEMA floodplain rules could affect repairs and rebuilding during a public town hall scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The town hall will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Menasha High School Auditorium, 420 Seventh St., Menasha.
City staff and representatives from the Wisconsin DNR will explain FEMA floodplain requirements, including the substantial-damage review, permits and steps homeowners may need to take before repairing or rebuilding. Residents will also be able to ask general questions related to FEMA floodplain requirements and the repair or rebuilding process.
Property owners who received a disaster recovery letter from the city, or who believe their property may be located in a regulatory floodplain, are encouraged to attend. City officials said receiving a letter does not mean the city has determined that a home cannot be repaired or rebuilt, and that each property will be reviewed individually.
The meeting will be livestreamed and recorded for residents who cannot attend in person. The city said information on how to view the meeting will be shared through the City of Menasha website and social media pages.
