While most seven-year-olds celebrate their birthdays with cake and party games, Joey Danger Evermore marked his milestone by conquering Yosemite’s iconic 7,573-foot El Capitan!
Joey started the vertical climb as a six-year-old and finished a year older, becoming the youngest person in history to summit the famous granite monolith. His Colorado Springs family faced six grueling days of wind storms, exhaustion, and rationing while suspended thousands of feet in the air. His older brother, Sam, held the previous age record after scaling it at age 8 in 2022.
The achievement sparked online debate over safety, given that El Capitan has claimed over 30 lives since 1905. His father defended the climb, stating children can achieve far more than expected when properly trained and protected. Joey took the historic feat in stride, playfully joking afterward that he “summited at six-seven.”
