(METRO) – The Brewers are in Cleveland to take on the Indians for three games starting this afternoon.
Corbin Burnes will take the mound for Milwaukee against Cleveland’s Carlos Carrasco.
The Brewers have alternated wins and losses over their last five games to land at 17-and-19. They’re four-and-a-half games behind the Cubs for first in the NL Central.
Brewers release Justin Smoak: The Brewers are designating first baseman Justin Smoak for assignment and claiming first baseman and designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach off waivers.
Smoak is hitting .186 with five homers overall and has gone just 1-of-21 over his past eight games.
Vogelbach made the All-Star Game last season with Seattle but has struggled with just a .088 batting average this season.
The Mariners and Blue Jays both DFA’d him.
