Two thrill-seekers pulled off a staggering stunt on Wednesday by illegally scaling the needle atop the Empire State Building. Among the climbers was renowned international stunt artists Angela Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov, who documented the entire terrifying ascent high above the Manhattan skyline. The death-defying feat took an unexpectedly personal turn when video footage appeared to show Kuznetsov proposing to Nikolau while precariously perched on top of the structural spire.
Following the stunt, they were arrested by the NYPD. The daredevils are facing multiple criminal offenses, including felony reckless endangerment, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief. New York authorities have stated that they are seeking maximum penalties to deter future urban explorers from attempting similarly dangerous breaches at high-profile city landmarks.
