GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Ahead of downtown Green Bay’s Fourth of July festivities, police are issuing a few traffic and boating reminders.
Fire Over the Fox is set for Saturday, July 4 near Leicht Memorial Park and the Main Street Bridge.
A portion of the following streets and locations will be closed on the day of the celebration:
- Main Street/Dousman Street
- Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge
- Leicht Memorial Park (Parking Lot)
- North Washington Street
- Museum Place
Closures will begin in the early morning hours and remain in effect until after the fireworks, when traffic has safely cleared.
On the water, boaters should be aware that the Green Bay Police Department Marine Unit will temporarily be holding back boat traffic between the Bart Starr Memorial Bridge (Walnut Street) and Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge for the Waterboard Warriors. There are two planned ski shows in front of the City Deck. The times are 2-3 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. During these times, we will allow boats to pass through during brief intermissions, which will be approximately halfway through each show.
And, later in the evening, the Green Bay Police Department Marine Unit will be enforcing a no docking or mooring order in the firework fallout zone from 6 p.m. until the end of the fireworks. This will be between the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge (Dousman Street/Main Street) to the train trestle north of Leicht Park and into the East River east to the bridge on N. Monroe Avenue. In addition, any operation of watercraft must cease in the firework fallout zone at 9 p.m. until the fireworks show concludes.
