(MILWAUKEE BUCKS/LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Bucks have selected Brayden Burries with the 10th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Milwaukee has also agreed in principle to acquire the draft rights to Nate Ament, the 13th overall pick in tonight’s draft, from the Miami Heat as part of a deal to be finalized later.
In his lone collegiate season at Arizona, Burries, a 6-4, 215-pound guard, appeared in 39 games (all starts) and averaged a team-high 16.1 points (T-15th in Big 12), 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals (T-7th in Big 12) in 29.8 minutes per game. He shot 49.1% from the field, ranking 10th in the Big 12, and his 210 total field goals made were the ninth-most in the Big 12 last season. The 2025-26 First Team All-Big 12 and Big 12 All-Freshman Team honoree also finished sixth in the Big 12 in total points (626), sixth in steals (59) and 10th in minutes played (1,162).
The 20-year-old California native led the Wildcats to the Final Four in the 2026 NCAA Tournament with 16.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.8 minutes per game while shooting 48.1% from the field and 51.7% from three. Burries also averaged 15.0 points per game during the Big 12 Conference Tournament, helping Arizona to a perfect 3-0 mark and earning a spot on the 2025-26 All-Big 12 Tournament Team.

He also talked about joining the list of Arizona players who got drafted.
Ament saw action in 35 games (all starts) with Tennessee last season, averaging 16.7 points, a team-high-tying 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 29.7 minutes per game in his freshman campaign. The 6-10, 211-pound forward was named to the 2025-26 SEC All-Freshman Team and All-SEC Second Team after totaling 584 points, the 12th-most in the SEC and third-most by a freshman in Tennessee history, 222 rebounds (13th in SEC) and 196 free throws (2nd in SEC; 14th in NCAA).
Ament was asked if he felt any pressure being part of the deal that sent away Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Ament said that he’s ready to get after it.
The 19-year-old saw action in four 2026 NCAA Tournament games during Tennessee’s Elite Eight bid, averaging 10.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 25.8 minutes per game. A native of Virginia, Ament was a finalist for the 2025-26 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year award and earned 2025-26 Naismith Trophy Late Season Team honors. Ament, a 2024-25 McDonald’s High School All-American, also won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup.

This was the first time in 32 years the Bucks had two picks in the first round. Ament won’t join the team until the trade of Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes official July 6th.
